Objective: To analyze, through a multiprofessional case study, the relationship between Burnout Syndrome (BS) in healthcare professionals and its impacts on patient safety, with an emphasis on iatrogenesis in wound care. Method: A descriptive case study with a qualitative approach, based on the integrated analysis of care records, institutional protocols, and recent scientific evidence related to burnout and wound care in high-complexity hospital settings. Results: It was observed that emotional exhaustion and depersonalization directly interfere with adherence to pressure injury prevention and treatment protocols, being associated with increased infection rates, delays in the healing process, failures in pain management, and a higher occurrence of preventable adverse events. Conclusion: Burnout constitutes a critical risk factor for iatrogenesis in wound care. Institutional support strategies and the reorganization of work processes are essential for patient safety and quality of care.
