Nursing assistance in caring for burned patients: literature review

Abstract

Objective: to analyze the relevance of the nursing team's assistance to burn victim patients Method: this is an integrative literature review, carried out in October 2020, based on MEDLINE, LILACS and SciELO, with the following descriptors: Assistance; Burns; Burn and Nursing Units. Results and discussion: according to the analysis of the articles published in the databases with the theme care provided to burn victims, it was observed that of the 33 journals analyzed in this study, 24 did not meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria, even with one or more in the title more descriptor. Regarding the survey of the collected data, it was observed that articles published in the years 2015 and 2019 represented a majority, both with a percentage of 33.33%, whereas the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 alone represented 11.11%, lower index of publications related to the proposed topic for research. Regarding the journals published in magazines, selected for the research, the one with the highest percentage was the Revista Brasileira de Queimaduras with the percentage of 55.55% Conclusion: it is known that providing care to a serious burn victim and with possible sequelae it is a huge challenge and requires from the nurse professional in addition to humanized assistance, the implementation of instruments based on scientific evidence to optimize the assistance and guarantee fast recovery. Because, the recovery process for these patients is understood as a phase of intense physical and emotional suffering, feelings that are assimilated by the professional during the care practice.
